About this deal

Dulux Diamond Eggshell is a very good paint for bathroom ceilings but in my opinion, is just slightly too expensive to justify paying for, especially with better yet cheaper options on the market. If you want an easy life, then we’d advise using a simple matt emulsion as it will be easy to apply and will give results that won’t show up every last bump and lump in your ceilings. You don’t necessarily need to use a specialist ceiling paint, but if you can budget for one, it’s well worth considering – they may make your life even easier as they’re designed to avoid spatter and dry more slowly for a better finish.

No, we did not use any primer, and we painted right over the joists, wires, ducts, and pipes. I’m not a professional at any of this, so you can go ahead and prime if a pro tells you to and you want to! I will say, so far we haven’t had issues with peeling or flaking, and it has been almost 2 years. Fingers crossed for the future, of course! But I also feel like touch-ups would be pretty straightforward. How has the painted ceiling held up? How about on pipes and HVAC? Whilst satin paint offers even more protection than matt or eggshell paint, I wouldn’t suggest using it in your bathroom as the sheen level is too much to offer a pleasant aesthetic. Satin paint reflects plenty of light and can make imperfections on your bathroom ceiling glaringly obvious so it’s best to avoid using it. What is the Best Paint Finish for a Bathroom Ceiling? Ready to start? First up, clear your room and lay down drop sheets to protect the floor. If you have furniture that you can’t move, push it into the middle of the room and cover it with a sheet. If it’s possible to remove parts of any fixtures, like elaborate light fittings, do this too. Have all your tools within easy reach, pop on your favourite music and get set to make your ceiling shine.

Does your home need a designer's touch?

In terms of durability, you can expect this paint to last at least 6 years and in most cases, you could even be looking at 10 years before you need to refresh it. This of course depends on your bathroom environment. Normally, when you finish a basement, you drywall the ceiling when you put in the walls. That makes it look like any other room in your house. We decided not to for a few reasons: 1. Height

I had Dustin nearby with a wet paper towel to wipe my glasses every once in a while. (He couldn’t hear me call him through my mask, so our system was that I would clap really loudly when I needed help, lol!) If you do have issues with ventilation, it’s advised to use a mould-resistant, anti-condensation, or even waterproof paint for your bathroom ceilings. Should You PVA the Bathroom Ceiling Before Painting?

Revitalise your ceilings with our selection of ceiling paints for style, protection and easy application

We did this project before the room had walls (what you see is the spray foam insulation) or floors or anything, which was perfect because it would make a big mess otherwise. We just masked off the windows and the open spots where the light fixtures were going.
