Description

The SmartShunt is a good alternative for a BMV battery monitor, especially for systems where battery monitoring is needed but less wiring and clutter is wanted. This parameter is used to tell the battery monitor how big the battery is. This setting should already have been done during the initial installation. The setting is the battery capacity in Amp hours (Ah). If the “Time remaining” indicates three dashes: “---” this means that the battery monitor is in an unsynchronised state. This occurs when the battery monitor has just been installed or after it has been left unpowered and is powered up again. For more information, see see the Synchronising the battery monitor chapter. Please note that if the state of charge indicates three dashes: “---” this means that the battery monitor is in an unsynchronised state. This mainly occurs when the battery monitor has just been installed or after the battery monitor has been left unpowered and is powered up again. For more information, see the Synchronising the battery monitor chapter.

[ Google Scholar]The SmartShunt 500A is an all in one battery monitor, only without a display. Your phone acts as the display. The SmartShunt connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app on your phone (or tablet) and you can conveniently read out all monitored battery parameters, like state of charge, time to go, historical information and much more. The SmartShunt is a good alternative for a BMV battery monitor, especially for systems where battery monitoring is needed but less wiring and clutter is wanted. The SmartShunt is equipped with Bluetooth, a VE.Direct port and a connection that can be used for: monitoring a second battery, midpoint monitoring or a temperature sensor. The “Charge Efficiency Factor” compensates for the capacity (Ah) losses during charging. A setting of 100% means that there are no losses.

Alternatively the SmartShunt can be connected and be read by a GX device. Connection to the SmartShunt is made via a VE.Direct cable.Implanted ventricular shunts in the united states: the billion-dollar-a-year cost of hydrocephalus treatment. Neurosurgery. 2005; 56( 1):139–45. [ PubMed] [ Google Scholar] Before we even get to the SmartShunt settings you’ll want to make sure your BMS and charger are similar. In our case, we set our JK BMS with active balancing to 3.55v high-volt-disconnect (per cell meaning a total of 14.2v for the battery). This is also the default for a Victron Multiplus when LiFePO4 is chosen.

Set the Peukert exponent according the battery specification sheet. If the Peukert exponent is unknown, set it at 1.25 for lead-acid batteries and set it at 1.05 for lithium batteries. A value of 1.00 disables the Peukert compensation. The Peukert value for lead- acid batteries can be calculated. Charge efficiency factor (%) Helps to calculate remaining time of battery (based on current rate of discharge … hmmm the current current). Basically this is the amount (in percentage) that you want to not be part of the normal 100% of usable energy in your battery. zero) disables the filter and gives an instantaneous (real-time) readout. However, the displayed “Time remaining” value may fluctuate heavily. Selecting the longest time, 12 minutes, will ensure that only long-term load fluctuations are included in the “Time remaining” calculations. Battery SOC on reset Before we even get to the settings, please note that these three parameters work together to determine when your battery is at 100% State of Charge (SOC):The use of the codman-medos programmable hakim valve in the management of patients with hydrocephalus: illustrative cases. The SmartShunt can do more than comprehensively monitor your main battery bank – additionally you can choose to either: My propane tank sensor is inside a metal box, and I can read them anywhere inside my trailer, 30-35 ft away... When connecting with the VictronConnect app, while an alarm is active, the alarm will show in the app. Alternatively, when the battery monitor is connected to a GX device, the alarm will show on the GX device display or the VRM portal. Displays: Voltage/ Current / Power / Ah Consumed / State of Charge (%) / Time-to-go / Total kWh charged/discharged To understand which size inverter you require, you will need to work out the wattage to match your requirements. To do this, you will need to add up the wattage of each 230V appliance you want to use, and find out their rated power draw. Usually the item manual will provide the wattage draw.

It is important to note that Victron Energy rate their inverters in Volt Amps (VA). The datasheets do also state the wattage of each inverter. Common LiFePO4 values are: 100Ah, 230Ah, 280Ah and 300Ah. There are of course variations of this. Charged Voltage (v) Example: If a current of 12A is drawn from a fully charged battery for a period of 3 hours, the readout will show -36.0Ah (-12 x 3 = -36).
