Swordsmanship: Sofia is shown to be skilled with a sword. It is revealed that this is due to taking Fencing Class at Royal Prep.

The castle has many handmaids and servants to keep it running smoothly. They are typically dressed in a similar attire, a blue uniform. The Royal Family currently consists of King Roland ll, Queen Miranda, Crown Princess Amber (heir to the throne), Prince James and Princess Sofia. Introducing Princess Sofia the First

She is the fourth heroine to be transformed magically—Cinderella was the first, Ariel the second, and Tiana the third. So far she has been transformed into a lizard, a mermaid, a cat, a rabbit, a raven, a bulldog, a Crystal bird, a Unicorn, a Dragon, and most recently a fairy, making her the only heroine to have taken at least nine distinct forms besides her human form throughout her depiction. Sofia states in " Finding Clover" that she takes mandolin lessons, but she has never been seen playing mandolin. A young girl named Sofia and her widowed mother, Miranda, have lived a peasant life in the kingdom of Enchancia. One day, the widowed King Roland of Enchancia and Miranda fall in love and get married. As she eases into her new role as a princess, Sofia goes on numerous adventures. She also bonds with her new family, including her step-siblings Amber and James, and settles into her new royal school, where Flora, Fauna and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty are headmistresses. It is revealed in " The Princess Stays In The Picture" that Sofia has been sailing since she was 4, and apparently even knows how to sail around big waves like the one she and Hildegard faced in that scene.

Queen Miranda is Sofia's lovely mother and also a warm and caring woman. She deeply loves her daughter Sofia, was happy to become a new mother for James and Amber and cares about them deeply, and she truly loves her husband, King Roland. Miranda's first husband was lost at sea, as (finally!) learned in Season 4, Episode 29. Although she was heartbroken, she did everything she could in her power to help and teach her daughter to be the best she could be. Queen Miranda is encouraging and supportive of Sofia, always there to lift her spirits when she's feeling down or nervous concerning the expectations she has to meet as a princess. She gives her motherly advice concerning whatever Sofia is striving to accomplish and she's always proud of her. She also taught Sofia the importance of keeping one's promises. And she has a clue that Sofia can talk to animals ( The Shy Princess) when she said that mothers know everything about their kids. Miranda teaches Sofia to embrace herself, but also to obey her. Miranda has difficulty with magical creatures, but accepts Cedric due to Sofia needing him.
