Description

Beechams all in one liquid contains alcohol equivalent to approximately 76ml beer or 31.6ml wine per 20ml dose. This may be harmful for people suffering from alcoholism or epilepsy. The concomitant use with other products containing paracetamol may lead to an overdose. Paracetamol overdose may cause liver failure which may require liver transplant or lead to death.

Indications: Relief of sinus pain and the symptoms of colds and influenza, including fatigue and drowsiness. The antidiabetic medicines exenatide, lixisenatide and liraglutide may slow down the absorption of paracetamol into the bloodstream, so it might take longer to work if you're using one of these medicines to treat your diabetes. Ask your pharmacist for more advice. Paracetamol is thought to relieve pain by reducing the production of prostaglandins in the brain and spinal cord. It works to bring down a fever by affecting an area of the brain that regulates our body temperature (the hypothalamic heat-regulating center). This stops you feeling hot or shivery. Dosage: Adults (including elderly) and children aged 16 years and over: Cold & Flu: One sachet to be taken every four hours, if necessary, up to a maximum of six sachets in any 24 hours. Flu Plus: One sachet to be taken every four-six hours, as necessary, up to a maximum of four sachets in any 24 hours. Do not take continuously for more than 7 days without medical advice. This product should not be used by patients taking other sympathomimetics (such as decongestants, appetite suppressants and amphetamine-like psychostimulants)Liver damage is possible in adults who have taken 10g or more of paracetamol. Ingestion of 5g or more of paracetamol may lead to liver damage if the patient has risk factors (see below). If urine is collected within 24 hours of a dose of this product, a metabolite may cause a colour interference with laboratory determinations of 5 hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5- HIAA) and vanillymandelic acid (VMA).

The anticoagulant effect of warfarin and other coumarins may be enhanced by prolonged regular daily use of paracetamol with increased risk of bleeding; occasional doses have no significant effect. Side effects: See SPC for full details. Thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis. Anaphylaxis, cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions including skin rashes and angioedema. Bronchospasm and dyspnoea, hepatic dysfunction, and acute pancreatitis. Mydriasis and acute angle closure glaucoma. Tachycardia and palpitations. Nervousness, irritability, restlessness, excitability, headache, dizziness, insomnia, increased blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort. Dysuria and urinary retention. In addition to reducing mucosal lining swelling, decongestants also suppress the production of mucous, therefore preventing a build up of fluid within the cavities which could otherwise lead to pressure and pain.Plasma-protein binding is negligible at usual therapeutic concentrations but increases with increasing concentrations. Don't take Beechams max strength all in one if you're taking any of the following medicines, because the combination may increase your blood pressure: Talk to a doctor at once if you take too much of this medicine, even if you feel well. This is because too much paracetamol can cause delayed, serious liver damage. If you take Beechams max strength all in one in the hour before or the six hours after taking colestyramine, the paracetamol is likely to be less effective. This is because colestyramine reduces the absorption of paracetamol from the gut. Hypertensive interactions occur between sympathomimetic amines such as phenylephrine and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (see contraindications).

Side effects: See SPC for full details. Hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis, skin rashes, angioedema. Bronchospasm, hepatic dysfunction, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, increased blood pressure, anxiety, irritability, restlessness, excitability, headache, nervousness, dizziness, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and urinary retention. Contains paracetamol. Do not take more medicine than the label tells you to. If you do not get better, talk to your doctor. Do not take anything else containing paracetamol while taking this medicine. Talk to a doctor at once if you take too much of this medicine, even if you feel well.

Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; Phenylephrine overdosage is likely to result in effects similar to those listed under adverse reactions. Additional symptoms may include hypertension and possibly reflux bradycardia. In severe cases confusion, hallucinations, seizures and arrhythmias may occur. However the amount required to produce serious phenylephrine toxicity would be greater than required to cause paracetamolrelated toxicity.

Don't take Beechams max strength all in one if you have taken a type of medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days. MAOIs include the antidepressants phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline, safinamide and rasagiline. This is because the combination of phenylephrine with these medicines could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). Get immediate medical advice if you or someone you know takes too much paracetamol, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage. Hypertensive interactions occur between sympathomimetic amines such as phenylephrine and monoamine oxidase inhibitors (see contraindications).. Side effects: See SPC for full details. Hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis, skin rashes, angioedema, SJS and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
