Keepability [5]– An instant classic, and works solo or as a companion set to the large Disney Castle That said, there’s so much to love, and I especially like the new printed tiles with my favourite being the LEGO Disney Castle tile – I just love it when LEGO gets meta, and produces tiles of actual LEGO sets. Furthermore, the construction methods appear incredibly intricate, enhancing this creation beyond those of comparable size and integrating unusual parts. An exclusive minifigure accompanies the model too, only increasing its appeal. Minifigure

From the side, the blue rooftop cones with pearl gold ski poles contrast brilliantly against the white main structure. Light up the world's most iconic castle, the Disney Castle aka Cinderella's Castle - in miniature form! The mini LEGO Disney Castle is hands down going to be one of the most popular LEGO sets of 2021, striking the right balance between a price and display presence. While its normal colour scheme has remained fairly consistent since 1971, Cinderella Castle is periodically decorated to celebrate certain occasions. That sometimes involves golden accents, although this concentration of pearl gold appears unusual. Nevertheless, I think the colours are attractive here, beginning across the bridge and continuing under the archway where the raised portcullis is visible.

Mini Disney Castle has another link to the LEGO Group’s wider portfolio of late, too: there are secrets squirrelled away solely for the builder to enjoy, because they won’t be visible (or even accessible) once the model’s complete. Two microfigures and the same printed tile of 71040 The Disney Castle that first debuted in 71044 Disney Train and Station are built into the set’s interior, then hidden by the central spire. The colours are also excellent, and the blend of blue, opalescent blues, against the greys, and pearl golds are absolutely stunning. Still, there’s nothing inherently worse about his torso – it’s just different – and it adds up to a smart inclusion where other microscale models, such as the annual May the Fourth build, tend to omit minifigures entirely. You could say Minnie’s missing, but then where does it end? — Price — There’s no faulting the colour choices, either, which reflect last year’s repainting of the real-life castle for Cinderella’s 70th anniversary, and the decorations applied for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. It means 40478 Mini Disney Castle’s bright blue and gold doesn’t quite match 71040 The Disney Castle’s comparatively muted dark blue and tan, but it makes for a brighter and more engaging model and build, which is exactly what you’d want when building with so few parts. This set looks awesome on display on your desk, or next to your other LEGO sets with its beautiful colour scheme.

Highly recommend this set, and this is pretty much a flawless set, and contender for one of the best and most satisfying sets of 2021. An obvious 5/5 score for this miniature magical wonder. The LEGO 40478 Mini Disney Castle is a great collectable for any Disney or LEGO fan and deserves to take pride of place in your room - so what better way to do that than showcasing it in a clear display case from iDisplayit. The build was fairly enjoyable for me – I really like building at micro scale, and at 567 pieces, was a medium-length and rather satisfying experience. I’d just remove both tiles during the build, or else you’ll have a hard time accessing them after – you literally have to break the castle to retrieve them.

Technic gears represent superb machicolations beneath the projecting sections of each tower, while the roofs include an interesting trans-opalescent blue shade. I have not encountered the colour before and the three elements present here are new in trans-opalescent blue. Moreover, the arrangement of separate towers corresponds with the source material. In fact, it’s proof – if the LEGO Group needs it, and judging by its ongoing pilot program, it surely does – that there’s solid reason to produce sets that cater to a much wider range of budgets across the same source material. Trans-clear 1x1 tiles form windows across the front. These are correctly positioned and I am particularly pleased with that situated in front of the angled roof slopes. The primary tower looks fantastic too, consisting almost entirely of pearl gold parts. The adjoining bartizan also appears accurate and I am impressed that the designer has captured such realistic detail at this scale. Yeah, that’s probably on you, then. I interact with lots of people here. Some may be like @sjr60, just shaking their fists at the screen and trying to ignore me (as I’m sure many do to him as well). Some thank me for providing information that interests them. Sometimes a debate starts up, runs it’s course, and life carries on without bloodshed. And on rare occasion, I run into someone who feels they have the right to control the way the conversation plays out, and gets torqued out of shape when they discover that’s not true. In fact, I kinda suspect you’ve done this here before, and probably not just with me.Most interesting of all are the Cinderella glass slipper tile and a 2×3 tile of 71040 Disney Castle which is just a brilliant nod to the original castle. Here’s a look at the entrance and the doors – you can see golden spikes inside the arch which is a nice touch. Measuring over 8 in. (21 cm) high, 5.5 in. (14 cm) wide and 5.5 in. (13 cm) deep, this LEGO® | Disney Mini Disney Castle makes a striking display piece standing on a mantelpiece or shelf in your home or office. Whether you’re after a companion to 71040 The Disney Castle, don’t have the room or budget for that mainstay of the LEGO Disney line-up, or just want to revel in a microscale build that embraces the artistic and technical challenges of building so small, 40478 Mini Disney Castle feels like an easy recommendation.
