I most definitely should have known that if there is one thing… one thing, that Kristoff likes, it is writing trilogies.

All hope lies with the last remaining silversaint, Gabriel de León, awaiting execution for the murder of the vampire emperor. While I am beyond thankful to be chosen as an ARC reader for this book, I'm actually sad/mad at myself! How a book coated in an empire of blood and carnage can foster so many truly heartfelt, deeply moving, funny, and also beautiful moments is a feat that makes me love it that much more.Pursued by children of the Forever King, drawn into wars and webs centuries in the weaving, and ravaged by his own rising bloodlust, Gabriel may not survive to see the truth of the Grail revealed. Though I doubt that Jay Kristoff and his million copies sold will truly care at the end of the day what I have to say about it. The book was near falling to pieces, but the lettering was still visible, faint and faded, oui, but still there.

Liathe saves and heals Gabriel, revealing she is his half-sister Celene Castia; turned into a vampire by Laure when she destroyed their village. And it becomes rather impossible not to form a special connection to those characters experiencing those similar and same things, albeit fictionally, and see yourself in them. It was everything I was hoping for and you best believe I’m purchasing it the day it releases to finish it! Samplers don't really tell you that much about a read in its entirety, but they do tell you if you are going to want to stick it out for over 700 pages of the story. Perhaps it was down to the use of cliché though Jay Kristoff certainly had me fooled here for a second. Two men who speak not a word of each other’s tongues may yet feel their hearts soar likewise at the same refrain. And then, he decided to use three words for every situation and sentence, no matter how random and awkward they’re placed. But music, de León…” The vampire leaned forward, animated for perhaps the first time since their conversation began. For me, I had already read and loved Nevernight, that couldn’t be erased, but how I behaved and reacted could be controlled and done in a way that was respectful of those who were hurt. However, he discovers secret writing in Laure's message indicating the vampires will actually invade via an unguarded mountain pass.
