There seem to be a very limited number of wizards who can actually produce wands, and they all have their own preferred ingredients and techniques. The only working wandmaker we are directly introduced to is Mr. Ollivander, who is the proprietor of a wand shop in Diagon Alley. Mr. Ollivander uses only three types of magical core for his wands: phoenix tail feathers, unicorn hair, and dragon heartstrings. Other wandmakers use other materials; for instance, Fleur Delacour's wand is made with the hair of a Veela as the core, a material Ollivander does not use as he finds it makes for a temperamental wand. Ollivander immediately identifies the wand used by Viktor Krum as a " Gregorovitch creation"; while he does not much care for the style, he does seem to think that it is a good enough wand. His ready identification and his discussion of the wand style indicates that he is very familiar with the style of this other wandmaker, if not with him personally; this also would indicate that we are looking at a restricted community. Krum joins Harry, Ron and Hermione in the Entrance Hall to say goodbye to Hermione. He asks to speak to Hermione alone, and the pair walk away from the crowd and out of sight. When the pair return soon after, Krum tells Harry that he liked Cedric Diggory; the boy was always polite to Krum, even though he was from Durmstrang. Krum scowls as Harry asks whether they have a new headmaster yet, and shrugs indifferently. He is surprised but gratified when, just as he is walking away, Ron asks for his autograph, and signs a fragment of parchment for him. Very little is known about Viktor Krum’s family. We know that his parents were pureblood Wizards also from Bulgaria, and they spoke to him in rapid Bulgarian. They also like to hover in the corners, not draw attention to themselves, and seem to have a constant glare on their face, just like Viktor Krum. We also know that Gellert Grindelwald killed his grandfather while Grindelwald rose to power using dark arts in Bulgaria.The disguised Harry Potter assured him that Xenophilius Lovegood was not trying to support the symbol of dark magic or Grindelwald, that he was an eccentric man who had no idea what the symbol meant. This turned out to be true, given that Lovegood was wearing the symbol to represent the Deathly Hallows, and as it turned out, the symbol was co-opted by Grindelwald as an expression of his quest to find and reunite all three hallows. Viktor Krum Family In the 1994–1995 school year, the Triwizard Tournament was held for the first time in many years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Karkaroff ventured to Hogwarts to supervise his students and to prepare Durmstrang's champion for the Tournament, as well as to serve as one of the five judges. From the moment of his arrival at Hogwarts, it was obvious that Karkaroff was heavily biased towards the champion from his own school, Viktor Krum. [11] Krum is greeted by his parents in the chamber off the Great Hall on the morning of the third task. He takes after his father, having inherited the same hooked nose and dark hair. Krum talks to them in rapid Bulgarian in a corner of the room.

This information was revealed to the assembled guests of Harry Potter's sixteenth birthday party by Remus Lupin, who, among others, were surprised Karkaroff had survived for so long. Viktor Krum and Fleur Delacour were both the Triwizard champions for their schools, Durmstrang Institute and Beauxbatons respectively. Although they viewed each other as competition during the Triwizard Tournament, they maintained their friendship and she invited him to her wedding to Bill Weasley in 1997. House-elves, among others, do not have wands and yet can apparate, however, their magic has been shown to be of a different class than human magic.

Flying: Viktor was an incredibly skilled flyer and played Seeker for the Bulgarian National Quidditch team by the age of seventeen. He was said to be one of the best seekers in the world, despite his young age.

A skilled Quidditch Seeker, Viktor was selected to play for the Bulgarian National Quidditch team despite still being at school, and was widely regarded as one of the best players in the world. In 1994, he played in the Quidditch World Cup, and helped Bulgaria reach the final against the Irish National Quidditch team. He was considered a fantastically exciting player to watch, so much so that even some of those who were supporting Ireland couldn't help but cheer for him. Viktor Krum was regularly seen swimming in the Great Lake, even in the winter. Ron and Harry couldn’t believe that he was doing so given the freezing temperatures, but Hermoine pointed out that where he lived was much colder, so these temperatures seemed somewhat warm to him.
